16th July

A reminder for Obs members of this year's AGM that'll be held at the Obs at 4:30pm this Saturday -18th July - BBQ and other refreshments to follow the meeting.

A far less windy dawn allowed for better coverage of the land that revealed far less than might have been hoped and certainly far less than is already on the move through nearby hot-spots. A single Sedge Warbler was the leanest of rewards on the ground at the Bill, where 100 Sand Martins, 2 Yellow Wagtails and singles of Grey Heron and Little Egret headed through overhead; 3 Sanderlings were the best of the waders at Ferrybridge. Some better variety out to sea there included amongst others 60 Mediterranean Gulls, 52 Sandwich Terns, 15 Balearic Shearwaters, 10 Black-headed Gulls, 8 Shelducks, 4 Yellow-legged Gulls, 3 Ringed Plovers, 3 Arctic Skuas and a frustratingly too distant 20 or more small waders that defied identification.
