4th July

Before a complete change in the weather arrived during the evening, when wind and rain swept in from the south-west, there was plenty of time to establish that it remained pretty quiet everywhere. Seawatching at the Bill returned totals of 58 Common Scoter and 11 Manx Shearwaters, whilst 31 Mediterranean Gulls, 8 Dunlin, 2 Common Terns, a Sanderling and a Sandwich Tern were at Ferrybridge.

On a very disappointing moth night the only immigrant interest in the Obs garden traps came in the form of 2 Rusty-dot Pearl and singles of Diamond-back Moth, Dark Pine Knot-horn and Dark Spectacle.
