11th July

Having already delivered a Sooty Shearwater over the weekend the current spell of windy weather came up with the goods again today when a Long-tailed Skua headed through off Chesil Cove; an Arctic Skua also passed through there, whilst 13 Manx Shearwaters, 10 Common Scoter and a Sandwich Tern were logged at the Bill. The only other reports concerned returning waders, including 27 Dunlin and singles of Sanderling, Whimbrel and Common Sandpiper at Ferrybridge and another Common Sandpiper at the Portland Marina.

Singles of Diamond-back Moth, Rusty-dot Pearl and Silver Y were the only immigrants caught overnight in the Obs garden moth-traps.
