4th April

The Easter bank holiday weekend kicked off with saturation coverage of the Bill area, where the rewards were relatively few and far between. Wheatear was the only one of the expected migrants to make any sort of impression, with 50 or so scattered about; nothing else even managing a double figure total, with 6 Redwings, 3 Firecrests, 2 Bullfinches and singles of Fieldfare and Black Redstart the only less frequent migrants livening things up a little. The only report from elsewhere on the land was of another Black Redstart at Pound Piece. The sea didn't fare a lot better, with 33 Common Scoter, 16 Manx Shearwaters and singles of Red-throated Diver, Brent Goose, Wigeon and Pintail through off the Bill and a Shelduck amongst lower numbers off Chesil.
