A day to forget in a hurry, full of the sort of malevolent weather that saw enough sunshine to tempt you to open a mist-net or head out birding only to have to scuttle for cover a few minutes later as yet another biblically heavy cloudburst rolled in off the Channel. Meaningful coverage was well nigh impossible and the only semi-worthwhile reports from the Bill were of singles of
Golden Plover,
Firecrest and
Spotted Flycatcher on the land and a lone
Balearic Shearwater through on the sea; elsewhere, a
Yellow-legged Gull dropped in at Ferrybridge.
