13th August

With the forecast heavy cloud cover failing to materialise there was again precious little to hinder the onward progress of overflying migrants. Passing Swallows were a feature from soon after dawn at the Bill and quickly totted up to well over 200 but, a surprise Dartford Warbler aside, migrant interest on the ground there amounted to little more than a Grasshopper Warbler amongst low single figure totals of Sedge Warblers, Whitethroats and Willow Warblers. Ferrybridge was busier, with 107 Ringed Plover, 62 Dunlin, 6 Sanderling and a Whimbrel amongst a fair showing of waders. The only sea reports were of 5 Common Scoter and a Yellow-legged Gull through off the Bill.
