A much more birdable day even if fog that rolled in either side of midday didn't make things easy; being birdable also enabled it to be firmly established that there was again very little about. At the Bill, singles of Turtle Dove and Corn Bunting - along with a late afternoon fly-by Serin - were of note but commoner arrivals were extremely few and far between, with 2 Chiffchaffs the only migrants captured during the day's ringing sessions at the Obs and Culverwell - the late May doldrums have come early this year! Visible passage was also almost non-existent and a single Red-throated Diver can hardly be classed as a worthwhile reward for the seawatchers.

A Gem - the first this year - the best of a selection of otherwise more routine migrant moths caught at the Obs last night; also a few Painted Ladies and Hummingbird Hawkmoths on the wing around the island today pic.twitter.com/u91gZUUppD
