8th April

The novelty of unbroken sunshine from dawn 'til dusk was welcome but there was no change in the parlous migrant situation: none of the routine migrants reached remotely near double figure totals on the ground at the Bill, where singles of Water Rail and Redstart provided the only minor interest, whilst only incoming Swallows chipped in with even faintly worthwhile numbers overhead. Persistence with the sea eventually returned totals of 30 Manx Shearwaters, 7 Red-throated Divers and 2 Great Skuas through off the Bill; the Iceland Gull also remained at Ferrybridge/Chesil Cove.
