The blustery easterlies continued and in combination with constant reduced visibility made for difficult birding on land and sea. Bar a sparse spread of Wheatears precious little by way of an arrival of grounded passerines was evident, with a lingering Pied Flycatcher at the Obs the best on offer at the Bill. The sea was well watched but unproductive, with 2 Arctic Skuas and singles of Great Crested Grebe and Grey Plover the pick of what little could be mustered at the Bill. Five Sanderling, a Whimbrel and a Greenshank were amongst the wader selection at Ferrybridge.
Always an infrequent visitor to Portland, this morning's Greenshank at Ferrybridge coincided with the arrival of a record-breaking flock for this area of 27 at nearby Lodmoor © Pete Saunders:
