9th May
Whilst not entirely absent on another day of blustery westerlies, grounded arrivals around the south of the island were few enough to enumerate in full: 5 Spotted Flycatchers, 2 Wheatears, a Whimbrel, a Whitethroat, a Garden Warbler and a Chiffchaff - has there ever been a more dismal tally on this date? That some migrants were still on the move was indicated by the trickle of Swifts, hirundines and a single Yellow Wagtail that passed over at the Bill. As in previous days the sea provided some salvation, with 3 Great Northern Divers, 2 Great Skuas, a Pomarine Skua and a Roseate Tern through off the Bill.
