2nd June

Despite promising-looking conditions there was very little to be found on the land, with 2 Whitethroats the only new arrivals trapped and ringed at the Obs; a Black Redstart at the Bill Quarry may or may not have been the same individual as that reported there off and on in the last few weeks. Miscellaneous other reports included a late Black-throated Diver in Portland Harbour, 57 Common Scoter, 2 late Common Gulls and a Great Skua through on the sea at the Bill and a single Sanderling amongst the handful of waders at Ferrybridge.

Although small numbers of Painted Ladys and Hummingbird Hawk-moths remain around the island during the day 3 Diamond-back Moths were the only immigrants caught overnight in the Obs garden moth-traps.
