Surprisingly strong wind detrimental to overnight mothing but a couple of medium-level rares - Splendid Brocade and Scarce Marsh Pearl Psammotis pulveralis - at the Obs indications of some movement afoot; Tree-lichen Beauty (2nd recently) perhaps now established here pic.twitter.com/1tIHCk4DJ4

Lovely pm on #Portland - just enough breeze! Families of #Peregrine, #LittleOwls x 2, #Kestrels x 3, #Raven. Crystal-clear sea & the bluest sky... @PortlandBirdObs @DorsetWildlife @DorsetBirdClub pic.twitter.com/OaCPNo0a06

Departing migrants maybe a little slower than average getting out here (eg still no Sedge W or Grasshopper W); today's Willow Warbler was, surprisingly, an adult right in the midst of post-breeding moult so hardly in tip-top condition for long distance movement pic.twitter.com/xJKGrOFSWt

A reminder for Obs members of our AGM that'll be held at the Obs at 4.30pm this Saturday 9th July - the weather forecast's looking very good so the after-meeting refreshments will include a BBQ!https://t.co/wxgWs92boz

Low-key dispersal providing most of this week's moth interest: Narrow-winged Pug, Silky Wainscot and Buff Footman all good examples of things that aren't/shouldn't be here from the Obs traps this mrng; week's best immigrant an Olive-tree Pearl P. vitrealis from the Grove y'day pic.twitter.com/Fsl9QkoS5m

A busy time at the Chesil little tern colony! We counted 32-41 fledglings yesterday, likely more hidden in the undulating pebbles. Oystercatcher chicks close to fledging and a roseate tern has come to say hello.

A few edited shots of the un-ringed Roseate Tern at Ferrybridge, Chesil Beach,Dorset Mon 04/07/22. Went to look for colour ringed Little Terns and saw this smart individual just sat stood there. Was being pushed up by the rising tide before calling & flying out to Sea. pic.twitter.com/jkxygEF8wi

Moth immigration currently a non-event - singles of Rusty-dot Pearl at the Obs and Bordered Straw at the Grove were last night's only captures - but plenty of nice local specials like Sulphur Pearl Sitochroa palealis are on the wing at the moment pic.twitter.com/eErHOm2bYm

A few from Ferrybridge: Juv Ringed Plover and parent, Sandwich Tern, Wheatear (returning or did it breed here?) and forget what a nuisance they can be, Herring Gulls are beautiful creatures pic.twitter.com/LKHb7YjGBS

Don't seem to have seen much mention of them this summer so are Langmaid's Yellow Underwings routine enough but to merit a comment these days. Good run of them here recently since the first on 18th June - these two from different island sites last night @DorsetMoths pic.twitter.com/GLiPyg8ahQ
