6th May

A bit of a grim day with heavy rain from pre-dawn until mid-morning following by thick fog developing during the afternoon and persisting until well after dark - the in-between hours allowed for a fair bit of fieldwork from which the rewards were scant. What small arrival of grounded migrants there was consisted of single figure totals of the expecteds, with the two morsels of better quality - singles of Grasshopper Warbler and Pied Flycatcher at the Bill - both seemingly lingerers. The sea got lots of looks, with 4 Arctic Skuas, a Great Northern Diver, a Balearic Shearwater and a Great Skua off the Bill and 2 Arctic Skuas off Chesil the pick of the passage.
