A decent enough morning gave way to a shocker of an afternoon today, with heavy rain setting in and lasting for the rest of the daylight hours. A fair little arrival on the ground at dawn included 50 Blackcaps and 20 Willow Warblers at the Bill and 10 Wheatears at Ferrybridge, with singles of Little Ringed Plover over the Bill, Black Redstart at Reap Lane and a Ring Ouzel at Watery Lane the best of the less frequents; the Hoopoe in the Weston Street area also showed again, whilst the year's first Whitethroat was at Wakeham. Despite the constantly freshening wind the sea was uneventful, with a constant trickle of Manx Shearwaters, 5 Red-throated Divers and 2 Arctic Skuas the best on offer at the Bill. The day's only other reports were of 2 Mute Swans and 2 Grey Plovers at Ferrybridge.
Also today, belated news received from a visiting birder of a Hoopoe at Tout Quarry on 30th March.
