20th August

A far less productive day than hoped/expected with the quiet conditions doing almost nothing passerine-wise. Wheatear was an honourable exception reaching more than 70 at the Bill, but Sedge Warbler and Willow Warbler only just struggled into double figures there and Yellow Wagtail, Tree Pipit, Blackcap and Pied Flycatcher managed barely more than singles, Waders fared slightly better, including 311 Ringed Plovers - the highest total so far this autumn - at Ferrybridge and a lone Greenshank over the Bill. A feeding flock of 100 Gannets gathered off the Bill but 13 Balearic Shearwaters (also the autumn peak to date), 3 Little Egrets, 2 Mute Swans and an Arctic Skua were the pick of what little passage there was offshore.
