A wet and wild day saw very little in the way of land-based migrants, and much of the focus was on the sea. Highlights on from both a morning and evening sea watch included the first Sooty Shearwater for the year, four Balearic Shearwaters and 67 Manx Shearwaters. In terms of commoner species, there was a strong passage of Gannets with 368 within a few hours in the early morning, at one point being harassed by a Bonxie. On the land, a small selection of Wheatears, Willow Warblers and Blackcaps were the best we could muster on the passerine front, as well as a lone Yellow-legged Gull below Culverwell. Ferrybridge was unremarkable compared to recent form, with the usual selection of waders, including 21 Sanderlings and a single Whimbrel.
