With the breeze remaining firmly in the west nothing much was expected of the land and singles of Chiffchaff and Spotted Flycatcher looked to be the only new arrivals at the Bill. A single Balearic Shearwater was lingering off the Bill during the evening.

Never a regular Portland breeding bird in living memory, this year has seen an interesting turn of events for Wheatear with a pair breeding at the Bill Quarry for the second successive year and at least three unpaired males holding territories elsewhere for varying lengths of time.
