8th July
A uneventful day with showers and longer spells of rain - including some real deluges during the afternoon - scuppering attempts at meaningful fieldwork. A trickle of departing Swifts included 16 leaving out to sea from the Bill, 23 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Curlews, 2 Common Scoter, 2 Balearic Shearwaters and a Whimbrel passed by off the Bill, the lingering Blackcap was still at the Bill and 61 Mediterranean Gulls, 21 Black-headed Gulls, 6 Ringed Plover, 2 Dunlin and a Redshank were at Ferrybridge.
