Considering how today unfolded - heavy rain that set in during the night lasted right through until midday - it was fortunate that there were any observations to report, let alone something as interesting as the year's first
Glossy Ibis that passed overhead at Ferrybridge during the afternoon; the
Rose-coloured Starling was also still about, whilst less frequent migrants at the Bill included a
Hobby overhead, a grounded
White Wagtail and a
Great Skua through on the sea. Commoner migrants grounded by the rain included 20
Wheatears although there wasn't a great deal else in evidence, whilst additions from the sea included 25
Manx Shearwaters.
