A touch of excitement today as the calm misty morning brought in numbers of
Yellow Wagtails unseen on the island for a number of years. The trapping of 38 birds in the crown fields has brought the annual totals in line with those from the early 70's.
Tree Pipits also put in a good showing with a flock of 60 around the Bill. A trickle of warblers through the obs area included a
Garden Warbler,
Grasshopper Warbler, 12
Sedge Warblers and double figures of
Willow Warblers. A
Green Sandpiper over the top fields was a timely delight along with two
Whinchats.
